2. Camera Privacy

2.1. Your Privacy

We have made sure that all web cameras have been positioned appropriately, zoomed out and are set to an appropriate resolution so that individuals cannot be identified.

All camera equipment used does not capture audio.

Should a sensitive situation occur, for example, a medical emergency, within view of one of our web cameras that could compromise someone's privacy, we shall endeavour to temporarily suspend the live stream as soon as we are made aware of such a situation.

2.2. How We Use Video

The purpose of our web cameras is to promote tourism for the town of Sidmouth by streaming live video feeds onto this website for general public viewing. Our web cameras are not in any way connected, used or affiliated with the police or any local authority and are not used for any surveillance, crime prevention and detection, traffic management or public safety purposes.

Generally, we do not record or store video recordings that have been captured by our web cameras.

We may, however, from time to time, record video segments of events that are of public interest such as, for example, sunsets, weather conditions, special events, exceptionally high tides and so on. Such video recordings may also be published on our social media pages.

We may also use still images & video taken from our web cameras to publish on our social media pages.

No one may record, store or use any footage captured by our web cameras, for any reason, without prior permission.

All live video streams are distributed by Youtube and are subject to acceptance of their own terms of use and privacy policy.

We accept no liability, responsibility or control for web cameras that are operated and/or owned by external organisations that we provide a link to from this website. External web cameras are also subject to acceptance of their own privacy policies.

2.3 Your Rights

To be told that a public web camera is being used by the use of clearly visible and legible signage at each camera location.

You can request a copy of any footage where your image is identifiable. We must respond to your request within one month. Bear in mind that footage is available on Youtube for 12 hours behind the live view before it disappears forever.

You can request us to erase any footage that we have of you.

You can request that we do not capture any footage of you in future. However, due to the nature of a public web camera, this may make this very difficult and it might not be possible for us to do this.

With your consent, we may also use this information that you provide to keep you informed of updates, news and other related information as well as product and services of the organisations involved with the Seaton Webcam project, by any of the following methods: email or online messaging service.

Withholding of the required data may result in an insufficient service being provided.

We will not hold your information for any longer than is necessary unless there is a lawful basis for its retention.

Should your data be inaccurate we will rectify this without delay.

Should you wish us to delete your data at any point, please contact us to make the request. This will be actioned unless there is a lawful basis for us to retain the information in which case you will be advised accordingly.

You can request access to your data at any time. We will provide you with a full copy within one month of your request.

We may share your data with any of the other organisations involved with the Beach Life Cams project or other regulated bodies as required.
